In the Legends League Cricket T20 encounter between India Maharajas and Asia Lions, two of the game’s fiercest rivals, Gautam Gambhir and Shahid Afridi, faced off against one another once more. When the names Gambhir and Afride are mentioned together, unpleasant memories of the two cricketing legends’ on-field conflicts during their playing careers are frequently relived. Afridi, though, made a touching gesture on the field on Friday by making sure Gambhir was okay.
Gambhir was on the strike in India’s batting’s 12th over. Gambhir attempted to drive the ball Abdul Razzaq’s bowling towards the fine-leg boundary, but the ball struck the edge of his bat and struck him on the head. Despite the fact that there was no significant harm done, Afridi approached Gambhir and asked him if everything was okay before the game began.
The incident’s video has been widely circulated on social media, and Afridi’s gesture won the supporters’ hearts.
The winning side in the game was the Asia Lions squad, which defeated the India Maharajas by 9 runs after scoring 165 runs overall while batting first.
The top two Asian hitters were Upul Tharanga (40) and Misbah-ul-Haq (73), while Parvinder Awana and Stuart Binny each took two wickets for the Indian team.
When attempting to reach the challenging total, India lost the first batter, Robin Uthappa, for a duck, but Gautam Gambhir persisted, scoring 54 runs in 39 deliveries. Nevertheless, none of the other Indian hitters were able to step up, and as a result, the team lost after falling 9 runs short of the Lions’ total.
