Chetan Sharma : India’s Cricket selector quits after TV sting
The chairman of India’s cricket selection committee has after a sting operation has been went viral by a local television. Chetan Sharma former cricketer and former selector of Indian team caught on camera making shocking allegations about the players and their selection process. After the video went viral it sparked fire over social media.
Senior official of Board of Control for Cricket of India (BCCI) said’ “Yes Chetan Sharma has filed his resignation to BCCI secretary Jay Shah. “ His position has become indefensible after the sting operation”.
Mr Sharma was at post of chief selector from December 2020 and had reappointed last month for this post again. On Tuesday, Zee TV released the sting video in which Chetan Sharma is been clearly seen talking about internal matters of Men’s Indian Cricket Team.
In the video he is clearly been seen saying that, Virat Kohli former Indian captain has ego problems with the former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly. He also said that Virat Kohli has made false allegations of his removing from the ODI captaincy without any consultation or communication from the governing body.
He also alleged that some players also took injection for early recovery from injuries so as to play in international team and they even play even if they are not fit for match. Mr. Sharma has made no public comment after the video has been released. Mr Sharma has resigned on early February 17 2023 and Jay shah has accepted it and he resigned voluntarily and no one has asked him to resign. Chetan Sharma was in Kolkata along with other team of selectors for Ranji trophy final between Bengal and Saurashtra. They were in Kolkata to select Irani cup Team.
Mr. Sharma has been seen in the video allegedly revealing his internal talks with head coach Rahul Dravid and Virat kohli, and also seen making allegation among some more senior players.
Talking about former captain of Indian Team Virat Kohli, he said Kohli had started thinking of himself that he is bigger than the Board and tried to hit back by making allegations that former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has removed him from ODI captaincy.
BCCI is looking into the matter because national selectors are bound to contracts and are not allowed to speak in media.
