David Warner will play an ODI series in India once more.
One limited overs star has been named to travel to the subcontinent, but David Warner may be ready to return to India for Australia’s ODI series in order to reclaim his spot for the Ashes.
That will serve as a timely reminder of Warner’s international-level credentials as one of the world’s most capable run scorers if he can perform commandingly in the 50-over matches.
Warner has been working hard since leaving the Indian Test series early due to an elbow fracture, and it is anticipated that he will meet all requirements to return to the subcontinent on Monday.
Effectively, the 50-over World Cup, which will be held in India in October and November, will begin with the three-match ODI series beginning on March 17.
Glenn Maxwell has been picked in a significant boost for Australia, but it’s anticipated selectors and medical staff will be taking a very guarded approach with the x-factor in his return from a fractured leg.
Maxwell might not play in all three of the games because he is still not fully mobile.
Maxwell, one of the best fielders in the world, might not be as aggressive as usual as Australia works to nurse him back to health after such a severe and debilitating injury.
In the series, Mitchell Marsh also makes a comeback after missing the entirety of the Australian domestic summer due to an ankle operation.
“With the World Cup just over seven months away, these matches in India are an important step in our preparation,” National Selector George Bailey said.
“Glenn and Mitchell … (are) important players in what we think the squad might look like come October.”
Although Pat Cummins has been selected the ODI team’s captain, it is still unclear when or even if he would travel back to India considering that he is now caring for his sick mother.
