Australia’s pacer Josh Hazelwood will not take any part in the Border Gavaskar Trophy against India after disastrous defeat in first 2 Test Matches as he fails to recover from an Archilles injury, team told on Monday.
Australia’s skipper Patt Cummins is also going back to Australia due to some serious family issues but will be back for the third test starting on 1 March in Indore.
Opening batsman of Australian squad, David Warner whose arm got fractured after being hit by a ball in second Test, will remain in the Team for 3rd Test. A team spokesman said, “Any changes in the squad will be announced on Wednesday once the selectors and medical staff have deliberated.
We will also stay in touch with Cummins said by Head Coach Andrew McDonald. We have got some decisions to make around team and injuries as they unfold, Mcdonald said to reporters. So Cummins will still be engaged in team conversations while dealing with his things at home.
Australia is trailing the series by 2-0 in Border Gavaskar Trophy of 4 Test series after being defeated by India in second Test at Delhi by 6 wickets and by an innings and 132 runs in the first Test at Nagpur.
Mitchell Starc and all-rounder Cameron Green missed first 2 Tests because they both recovered from broken fingers. Hazelwood also missed first two Tests because of the injury that he got in third Test against South Africa in January in Sydney.
Coach McDonald said Cameron Green will be available for Third Test whereas Starc is still recovering. He also added,” Starc was available for the last game, but was he fully fit? That’s another question. Is he fully fit for this game? He’s closer.
He also added “Spinner Todd Murphy had a slight niggle in his side but was not in danger of missing the next match.” He’ll have… not a test but good workout two days before, “McDonald said.” He needs a break so you won’t see him doing much work… but it looks good.
