The biggest T20 league is about to return to its traditional home and away format this year.
There is a lot of expectation among the fans of the biggest T20 league of the world, Indian Premier League. Cricket is like a religion to almost every youngster of India regardless of what religion they belong to. This IPL has become the most promising factor of summers in India that summer to be waited for and it is still the same this year. Moreover, everyone in India is now waiting for the schedule of their favorite teams and their fixtures, which is almost ready to return to its traditional home and away series after the COVID 19 break. There has not yet been any official announcement made by the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI).
The schedule of Indian Premier League is yet to be officially announced by BCCI and the most probable reason that could be the reason behind this delay should be the new event added in their calendar I.e. Women’s Premier League (WPL). Moreover this will be the very first time when the BCCI is going to host a full-fledged tournament like IPL for women cricketers. There are few additions in the Women’s Premier League that there will be three teams competitions with 4 matches in total including the finals.
Now the inaugural of WPL has been announced so the IPL is going to be held after the finals of Women’s Premier League which is supposed to be held on March 26.
India’s chance to qualify for the World Test Championship Final
Another expected reason behind the quietness from the BCCI on IPL 2023 would be the chance of qualification chances of Indian Team to qualify for the World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-2023 final. The chances of India in going to the final of WTC depending upon the result of the Border Gavaskar trophy series, maybe BCCI could wait for first 2 Test matches to make a deciding statement on the schedule of the Indian Premier League (IPL).BCCI is waiting for decision because if India has to qualify for WTC, then India has to win Test series against Australia by either 4-0, 3-0, 3-1, 2-0, 2-1, 1-0 or 2-2 draw, then BCCI would definitely want their test team members to leave some of the matches of IPL and reach England for the finals early for practice and to get involve in there atmosphere so as to give their performance utmost.
The ICC has declared that the final of WTC will be held on June 7 at the Oval, which will give the BCCI a time period from 27 March to the end of May to conduct the IPL which is a 65 Day time period.
Earlier it was supposed to have the IPL time period of 74 days’ time period but with these WTC finals it has reduced to cover up within 60 days’ time.
As IPL is being started on April 1 on Saturday it is going to be a really big start of this huge tournament and leading straight to the finals which is going to be held on May 28 which comes on Sunday, which is going to be really enjoyed by the people of cricket fans all over the world.
