IPL is top notch tournament, but Tom Curran Speaks on Brother Sam’s record of price in auction
Last year remains to be the hardest for England’s World Cup winner all-rounder Tom Curran. In January 2022, Curran was kept aside for months after finding a stress fracture of the back. Because of this Curran couldn’t play any International match for the entire year, with his last appearance in England’s team in July 2021. But Curran still managed to play in first class cricket for Surrey later in 2022 and also played for T20 Blast for Oval Invincible but this young player failed to maintain space in England’s squad.
This year, Curran made a really superb comeback with his hard work and great performance as he appeared for Desert Vipers in the DP World International League T20 at United Arab Emirates. He played marvelously and took 12 wickets in 11 matches and made 150 runs in the tournament. With the help of his records Vipers reached the finals but unfortunately lost to Gulf Giants in finals. Curran feels really refreshed and motivated to return to cricket and believes that he is a much better player than before.
According to Hindustan times. “Curran says how important these leagues such as ILT20 are really for him at this stage of his career. Curran still didn’t get selected in the International team yet, but he is still preparing for this in his mind. Any type of cricket is important whether it is International or domestic. By playing too much cricket in my international career it was a much needed break so as to get my body fit and mind relaxed and refreshed so as to give much better performances in the future.
“I loved my time playing at Desert Vipers, it’s a great team. For me returning to international cricket is not my main focus right now, but I am just enjoying playing cricket and learning more techniques so as to make my game more professional.
While Curran didn’t participate in IPL auction, his brother Sam continued to play in International cricket and last December made a historic bid in IPL auction history: Curran was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 18.5 crore, whereas his seniors went unsold in the auction.
“There are so many leagues now all over the world. IPL is still at the peak. Moreover it is really hard to maintain standards according to every league being run in the world. My belief is to always put my best foot ahead and to make my team win.
“Curran has played in the IPL before, but he said that one of the advantages of playing in UAE is bigger grounds. The grounds are pretty big as compared to that of Sharjah. It has got more scope for you as being a bowler of bigger grounds rather than that of India”, Curran added
