Womens cricket Is set to make boosting entry with WPL but IPL is different aspect

Indian women cricket team vice-captain Samriti Mandhana looking really excited after being picked up by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs3.4 crore in the auction of Womens Premier League (WPL) which held in South Africa which filled all the players with full excitement for the big  day.

After so long these days have came where all the female cricketers can also thought of calling themselves millionare as their male cricketers in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

From so long discussions have been on the tables to start similar league as IPL for women as well with some veterans like Mithali Raj, Jhulan Goswami and Harmanpreet Kaur and many more waiting for these decisions to be made on paper and to implement them. But after all these hard work and all paperwork were done, so on 4 March this year inaugural match of five franchisees tournament begins.

Well it will still be counted as the part of men’s IPL , but at least now women cricketers have their own category based on their performances in the WPL in the leagues full of men’s all over the world.

If we see on the matter of money WPL cannot reach even nearby to that of IPL. The new segment of indian cricket will still add a lot of charm and glamour to the Indian women cricket which they was lacking. It will also bring new foreign and local investors in the game who will come for their promotions and to earn some great bucks from the series.

Mandhana got Rs 3.40 crores, Deepti sharma spin bowler got sold to UP Warriorz for Rs2.60 crore and Jemimah Rodrigues and Indian opener Shafali Verma also grabbed Rs 2 crore plus deals. In the WPL all the five franchisees were given the budget of Rs 12 crore as compared to that of the IPL in the last year where itssalary cap has been increased from Rs 90 crore to Rs 95 crore each franchisee.

N 2010 IPL auction Shane Bond (KKR) and Keiron Pollard (MI) were sold for highest price of Rs 4.8 crore each. In just one year in year 2011 salary cap of franchisees has increased so tremendously that in 2011 Gautam Gambhir has got sold for Rs14.9 crore.

In very less time IPL has become the best Domestic T20 Tournament which every player from the world wish to play in. It has increased its revenue with many folds with the help of franchisees, telecasters, ads and it has given the players luxurious life as well.

In this ongoing trend in IPL of increasing salary caps next name is of England all-rounder Sam Curran who has been sold for highest Rs 18.5 crore in 2023 IPL auction.

When compared to the prices of the mega stars in men’s IPL auction, the price of Mandhana Rs3 crore seems very tiny front of Celebrity IPL players. But in IPL inaugural starting also started with decent amount of funds so hopefully slowly with passing years WPL will also receive these kinds of huge salaries.

By not getting into the debate of price of men’s IPL money more or less but on Monday women cricket won and in WPL will create new history.
